2019 Wrap Up!

This year had me in a whirlwind of emotions.

It made me the happiest girl in the world, but it also made me feel a kind of sadness that I have not felt before…

The First Quarter:

New Year and 6th anniversary with Kevin. As you may already know, the first day of the year is Kevin and I’s anniversary. 2019 marked our sixth year together.

My dad went home to Manila before Christmas so it was just me and Kevin here in Singapore. During Media Noche, I just cooked simple dishes (coz this girl has limited cooking skills) and we had a bottle of wine. On 1st January itself, we went out for dinner at P.S. Cafe to celebrate. Nothing fancy, just love. ♡

Hong Kong, Macau, and Manila trips. In March, my family and I flew to Hong Kong and Macau. It is our first ever overseas travel as a family. During our trip to Disneyland, we engaged SweetEscape to take our photos. I shared some of the photos here. This trip was memorable and so much fun. It allowed us to bond as a whole family.

After 2 weeks, I flew to Manila for a short trip to attend a friend’s wedding. It was held in Tagaytay, and it was beautiful and full of love.

First concert of the year. Attended Maroon 5’s concert here in Singapore with friends. We got the front-row view and saw Adam Levine up close!

The Second Quarter:

Birthdays and Weddings. Kevin and I turned 28 and 27, respectively. We are getting old! Anyway, we didn’t have fancy celebrations this year. I just gifted him a pair of Yeezys, and he gifted me an Apple Watch.

In June, I flew to Manila again to attend a friend’s wedding. It was the most extravagant wedding I have ever attended.

Second concert of the year. Saw Ed Sheeran perform live, and it is probably the best concert I have attended so far. Ed Sheeran is really an extremely talented musician and performer. Read more about the concert here.

The Third Quarter:

New project. At work, I have been deployed to a new client and a new project. It was a major adjustment for me as I have been in my previous project for more than 4 years, and also, I have no experience in this new client’s industry. It is challenging, but the sense of fulfilment is there.

Hobbies. I have acquired a new hobby which is extremely addicting and expensive — figure collecting! Initially, I said that I will only collect figures related to Cardcaptor Sakura, but it has stemmed out onto other animes and characters. They are so cute; I can’t get enough of them!

For my film photography hobby, I have bought a new camera, a Canon Canonet QL17 GIII. Visit my film photography page for all my film photography stuff.

Third and last concerts of the year. In August, Kevin and I attended Westlife’s concert. It was a dream come true to witness them perform live. When they disbanded in 2012, I was devastated because I thought I would never have a chance to see them perform in person. I am so grateful to them for reuniting and letting fans like me to see them.

In September, Kate flew to Singapore, and we watched Epik High’s concert. It was my first time to watch a concert of a Korean band, and first time to watch a concert with my sister.

Kuala Lumpur trip. The following day after the concert, Kate and I flew to Kuala Lumpur. I toured her to the touristy areas of the city. This was also a first time for us — first time to travel together.

The Fourth Quarter:

Seoul trip and first tattoo. This year was more concerts than travels for me and Kevin. Our Seoul trip was our only travel in 2019. We flew to Seoul in November, during our favourite season!

During the trip, I also got my first ever tattoo! It was done by the famous tattoo artist, @playground_tat2.

This trip is the most memorable out of all our trips, which brings me to my next point…

The happiness. Kevin made me the happiest when he asked me to be his wife. We are getting married next year! We have already started the wedding preparations, and we are both so excited! I shared the deets on the proposal here.

But as I mentioned in the introduction of this post, happiness came, but sadness also did…

The sadness. Just over a week after the proposal, Kevin’s mother passed away. It was painful to see Kevin hurting so much; they are very close, and Kevin loves her so much. I regret that I was not able to visit her when she was still alive. She was very kind to me and accepted me in her family. It’s sad that she won’t be able to witness his favourite son get married. I guess, the only consolation is knowing that she is at peace now, and she’s not suffering anymore. Rest in peace, tita Lucie. You are sorely missed.

I did not expect much in 2019, I thought it will be just any other year. But a lot of things happened, especially unexpected ones.

How was your 2019?
