Dad's Birthday Lunch
![]() |
I am trying to get back into blogging instead of just showing up once a year to write a Wrap Up! post. This blog is a little memory bank for me and my husband, and I would love to fill it with more stories, travels, and snippets of our everyday life so we can look back on them and reminisce in the years to come.
Anyway, I thought of writing about last weekend when we celebrated my dad's birthday.
My dad turned 64 years old. We started the day attending mass at Blessed Sacrament Church, which is just a few bus stops away from our place. It has been a while since I attended a mass. I am a lapsed Catholic and I am not particularly religious, but I would be lying if I said it didn't feel good hearing mass that day.
After mass, we drove to the City Hall area. We had a reservation at The Black Pearl, which is a Chinese restaurant and my dad's favourite cuisine. My sisters and I learned our lesson already -- over the past few years, whenever we bring him to non-Chinese restaurants for his birthday or during Father's Day, he is usually not impressed by the food. We have decided that from now on, we will always stick to Chinese restaurants for these occasions.
We went to Marina Bay Sands after lunch. We just strolled around and my dad bought new shoes. He said it's his birthday gift to himself and that he would use them on his upcoming Japan trip with my mum in December.
